After this course you will: Be able to write academic research papers, projects and texts more effectively and efficiently, You will be able to plan and write different types of academic theses, dissertation and essays with references, bibliography, quotations and paraphrases.

Essay Writing Course Syllabus

We will teach you how to write dissertations, theses and essays effectively, as well as improving your English grammar and vocabulary. Thesis structure and referencing systems (Harvard & APA) as well as research methods. Strategies for rapid reading of research articles are also included. You will also gain confidence in writing English in an academic context and understand how to organise your thesis, write quotations and paraphrase extracts from research articles and avoid plagiarism. You will also learn to write a thesis statement, abstract and bibliography as well as an acknowledgement page. If you are in the planning stage we can help you write your project outline and research proposal.

Teaching Methods

This is a one-to-one course customised to meet your own learning objectives.. You have some English academic writing skills already so your tutor will discuss in detail what want to learn right at the very beginning of the course. After this the tutor will work closely with you to create a learning plan.

Since this is one to one tutoring the teacher will give you instant feedback on your progress. and your essay/thesis/dissertation writing style.

If you are a post-graduate research student (masters degree or doctoral degree - MA, MSc, MBA or PhD) in Hong Kong you can choose to concentrate on developing and refining your dissertation or thesis by bringing in your own work for the tutor to help you proof read or edit.

Our tutors include ex-university lecturers with post-graduate research degrees so you are guaranteed the highest quality teaching.

Teaching Materials

We use a range of teaching materials for this course as it depends upon what type of writing you need to do . Essay writing and Thesis writing are very different and require different skills.

Native English Tutors

Your personal native ENglish teacher will stay with you for the duration of the course. You are welcome to email essays for correction and to bring along your own research or projects.

Course Schedule & Location

This course last ten hours and consists of 8 lessons. Courses can be extended for an extra 4 lessons immediately after the initial course has finished. We can also give English lessons via SKYPE if you have already left Hong Kong or are located overseas. We can accept payment via Paypal.
